Our class finished our first Stand Alone Math Unit and it was all about graphing. The students learned to create Single and Double Venn Diagrams. They made tally graphs and tally charts. They even ventured into the world of bar graphs. The class really enjoyed collecting information about their classmates and were always very conscious to include everyone in their questioning. They were able to organize the data they collected into a variety of graphs and reflect on their work afterwards. The Unit ended with a special celebration and stuffed animals were invited. Students graphed their answers to various questions via proxy with their stuffed animals. It was a great day had by all!
It's been a full week with a visit from Marcy Cook! Marcy came and taught a lesson in 1LJY which involved mental math, working with place value and ordering numbers. The students paid close attention and really enjoyed her visit. We have been focusing on graphing this week and the students have created Single Venn Diagrams, Bar Graphs and Tally Graphs. We will continue with our graphing unit for the next few weeks. The students are really enjoying making the graphs because the information in them is all about them!
