It's nearing the end of school and our grade ones will soon be moving up to grade two! Today, 1ai was invited to 2ai to check out what they'll expect next year!
This afternoon, the grade one classes were treated to a special simulation hosted by Mr. Dean and Ms. Rachel about the types of wind Hong Kong faces all year round. Students learned where hot and cold winds come from, where wet and dry comes from, and how winds can come together to cause severe wind and weather systems such as typhoons and tropical storms!
...Capt. Stapleton! Oliver's dad was welcomed to the grade one classes this afternoon to come speak to us about how weather affects a pilot's job. Brett showed the students examples of the data, maps and information he needs to look at before every one of his flights. Capt. Stapleton also showed us some videos about how bad weather and storms affect where planes can fly and how he might have to alter the flight path. Thanks for coming in, Brett!
We be dunkin' donuts in ice cream today! This special treat courtesy of Art (Calleigh's dad), who brought in homemade donuts to go with delicious ice cold ice cream. Thanks for the cool treat, Art!
1ai students had a chance to build structures using our wooden geometry blocks. There's only one rule tho... they had to listen to the "master builder" who described and told them what shapes to use and where to put them, but didn't show them how it was supposed to look. Could the 1ai "class builders" do it?
Braving the elements, Francesca (Suri's mom) didn't disappoint and came in to 1ai for our Mystery Reader. While the skies were stormy and rain poured down, Francesca kept the kids calm and entertained with her choice of books!
Once again, 1ai was delighted to welcome Dordor, Oliver's mom, back to our classroom. This time for Share-A-Snack! Dordor went all out this time, bringing balloons, table cloths, decorations while serving up delicious waffle bites, ice cream and sprinkles! Thanks so much for coming in again!
Australia takes over G1ai in today's Mystery Reader! Dordor, Oliver's mom, came in armed with a selection of Australian themed books and a platoon of stuffed wombats, kangaroos and dingos too! Let's see how it turned out!
